Interesting developments have been taking place lately in the land "open for business". It seems that ED's mantra that Zim is 'open for business' has relatively attracted all sorts of attention and investors. Early this week, ED's twitter account stated that Zimbabwe had signed a $5.2bn deal with Nkosikhona Holdings of South Africa. The deal was described as enabling Zim to produce over 8m litres of liquid fuels per day from coal. It turned out Nkosikhona holdings had no online presence except the mere news that it signed a deal with the Zimbabwe government. With a website under construction and having been formed only 5 years ago, probably the company hit the jackpot with Zimbabwe becoming its first ever project. Nelson Chamisa addressing a rally  (Credit-Bulawayo24) I have contemplated writing about the sudden rise of Nelson Chamisa in Zimbabwe's political opposition space. The main reasons why i have pondered on this issue has mainly been because of the controversy that dawned upon his rise to the MDC Alliance leadership. When i created this blog i hoped to address the political challenges that dawn upon Zimbabwe's largely young generation of which i consider myself a part of, it is this generation that comprises most of the voters in the forthcoming election. The emergence of Nelson Chamisa at age 40 as a presidential candidate and numerous other political aspirants whom are quite young running for office is generally plausible but also raises numerous other questions. Jacob Zuma’s resignation later on last night might have over shadowed the death of an icon. Yet waking up this morning to the news of Morgan Tsvangirai (MT)’s death has unleashed the historical achievements of this great Zimbabwean. I believe we were lucky to have lived in the time of such a great leader, a true democrat. I was never a card carrying member of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) but I adored its leader and felt heartbroken as I read about his death. Many in my generation, may not have known MT on a personal level, but “Save” as he was popularly known brought hope to most young Zimbabweans born after independence. Credit: @nelsonchamisa Official twitter account https://twitter.com/nelsonchamisa AS Zimbabwe approaches a month since the infamous November 15 Coup ‘d’état, I can’t help but share my disgust and dismay at the actions of the MDC -T and the opposition team that travelled to the US this week.  Nelson Chamisa’s official twitter account stated that they were on a vital global advocacy and diplomatic outreach and their focus was repositioning opposition and global coalition for free and fair elections in 2018. It is rather naïve and insincere for Tendai Biti, Dewa Mavhinga and Nelson Chamisa to travel to the US to lobby for free and fair elections in Zimbabwe as condition to receiving assistance for debt relief in the country. It would have been more reasonable if these opposition figures had consulted with the regime in power before rushing to the US.
